My blessing basket was handmade by Mohammed Abiba in Ghana. It is absolutely beautiful. The color scheme is joyful and its weave is perfectly detailed. It was definitely crafted with care and love.
The Blessing Basket Project was created by Theresa Carrington and is truly an inspiring and amazing story. The women artisans who participate are empowering themselves to overcome poverty, creating opportunities for their families and sharing possibilities with the world. I registered my basket online and was given instant access to Mohammed’s story, the ability to follow her progress and even send her a letter.
When the beauty of the basket caught my eye at Whole Foods, learning of its origin was a pleasant surprise to say the least. I keep scarves, gloves and the dog’s leash in this great work of art. It is a wonderful pop of color, texture and substance for everyone to enjoy.
